Good Morning Friends,

A good friend and I were discussing what is Theology, it’s meaning and more specifically its relevance to the Christian and the Church. I offered this explanation: Theos which is a Greek word meaning God and ology from the Greek word logos literally meaning word. When placed together Theology in essence “the study of God or the study of God's Word”. As with many studies there are subsets to each main heading or as I like to refer as “going down a rabbit hole”.

1. Bibliology = The Doctrine of the Bible
2. Theology = The Doctrine of God
3. Christology = The Doctrine of Christ
4. Pneumatology = The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit
5. Angelology = The Doctrine of Angels
6. Satanology = The Doctrine of Satan
7. Demonology = The Doctrine of Demons
8. Soteriology = The Doctrine of Salvation
9. Hamartiology = The Doctrine of Sin
10. Anthropology = The Doctrine of Man
11. Ecclesiology = The Doctrine of the Church
12. Eschatology = The Doctrine of End Times

So, what does is the relevance to us as Christians and to the Church as a whole? Theology can be a very deep rabbit hole in which to venture and not a trip one will need to take lightly. Many Churches have strayed from or have been influenced by social pressures to stray from or skirt the key Doctrines of God’s Word leading to a Church that focuses more on relative issues in today’s society, Christian counseling, financial planning, marriage enrichment, children’s activities, ect., in order to bolster the rolls or keep members who may be somewhat disassociated to the teaching of TRUTH OF GODS WORD. I have said in the past that is your church or your pastor/preacher/priest is NOT preaching The Word of God “not his/her opinion or their interpretation of The Word, better start looking for another who is. There are many in the Church who are deceiving and leading astray the sheep with false Doctrine. Do your research, take a trip down the rabbit hole, explore the world of Theology and the 12 subsets which make up the whole for yourself. You will be rewarded and enriched by what you may discover. I wish I had been a better student in elementary and high school and applied myself earlier in life to studying instead of not-studying… It has taken me a lifetime to get to where I am today and still a simpleton in regard to the depth and breadth of His Word.

Father, I thank you today for your Word, I thank you for living in a time when so many resources are available to me with just a key stroke to study and discern TRUTH from half-truth. I pray, Lord, that you will continue to teach me and my friends and family what your Word means and that we may take that Word, apply it to our daily lives and not keep it to ourselves but to share it freely with all who we come in contact with. Father, I ask that you make me a better Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all through your strength and guidance from The Holy Spirit. Lord, I ask for the courage to witness and share the Gospel be imparted upon all my friends, family and myself as we near the time for your return. Lord thank you for your continued and undeserving blessings, in Jesus most holy name. AMEN
