Breakfast with God 20241009

Post by Roby.evans »

Good Morning Friends,

Forgiveness = is it (You owe me, or I owe you)? What if you received a present or a gift from someone and when you unwrapped it there was a stirp of paper that had just three words in it that said, “Please forgive me”. Where would your heart go? Would it bring back old hurts, memories, feelings? As I am reading in Matthew 18:21-35 Peter ask Jesus how many times he should forgive his brother who has sinned against him…hmmm, what Peter failed to indicate if he had sinned against his brother and was in need of his brother’s forgiveness. For Peter it was just a “you owe me” attitude, but forgiveness is like a two-way street, it goes both ways. If you and I do not practice forgiveness we will be prisoners to not only those who have sinned against us to ourselves as well. What is forgiveness, it is to release someone from a debt or obligation, releasing by choice of a wrong done against you, it is not and emotion, it is a decision on your part. Its not pretending it did not happen, it does not justify the action, it is not disregarding or excusing the action, its not faking or disregarding the hurt it did you. Forgiveness is not concession or reconciling; it might lead to it, but in essence it is not.

Have you laid your gift at the feet of Jesus, have you asked for His forgiveness for the sins that you have done and continue to commit? He WILL forgive you, all you have to do is ask. Jesus said we are to forgive our brothers, have you? Is there someone who you need to tell so you can be released from the bondage of unforgiving sin. I feel that is we all would forgive one another, remove that bondage of slavery that is keeping us apart from the full glory and blessing God has in store for us, light would abound in each of us. I heard a fellow describe his friend as “beacon of light in this dark world”, how wonderful it would be to have someone refer to you as that. We can’t be that beacon of light with a shroud of unforgiveness covering our lamp. Friends, uncover your lamp, let your light shine for Jesus, use this light to lead others from the path of darkness.

Father, as Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:9-15 how to pray, so many times the words of “FORGIVNESS’ is repeated, and we know that when You repeat something it has a special meaning, and we need to pay special attention to it. Thank you, Lord for Your Word, which we must feast on continually just as you fed the tribes of Israel manna You feed us and sustain us if only, we pick it up and gather it into ourselves. Lord, I ask for the forgiveness only you can provide, and I ask that I too can ask for forgiveness with grace and humility from those who I have wronged and give forgiveness to those who may have wronged me. Father it is Jesus most Holy Name I ask. AMEN
In His Service,
Philippians 4:13
