Researching Printers

Post by Jclaudo »

Any recommendations for a first, but good/featured printer? I've been around them, just never used one. In the reloading press arena so many 3d print parts and I'm getting jealous. :)

Thanks, Jack

to be honest...Im not sure. HOWEVER...Would you like to be a recipient for a 3D printer should one come available, say for a 6 month loan? VRAP has a fleet of 3D printers that is currently at 6 machines. I get them cheap or donated, and verify operation. Then ship to recipients. Steve Martucio has one currently, and if a 72 year old guy can figure it out, I have confidence you can as well. You will need to supply a computer or laptop for the slicing programs though.
I am working on getting one going for Emily, but have a 3 other ones to get ready to loan out...

If your looking to buy, a budget window would help narrow down recommendations. top of the line would be Prusa XL, my opinion is its the best on the market. For a more budget friendly core xy printer I recommend the Flashforge 5M/ 5M pro. Bed slinger there are so many out there that can be had for around $200. If you want anything from the Ender 3 series I would look at a minimum any of the ones with auto level features such as the V3SE or KE. The newer V3 is also a good choice. I personally own the V3SE but have spent quite a bit modifying it to make it better. Best place to buy Ender is currently on Ebay, they have refurbished units straight from Creality for almost half the price of new. I also own then Ankermake M5C which has been nothing but great for me, and is a great buy at $200 now. Lots of people love the Bamboo's but I have yet to use one. Sovol makes great printers as well especially if you like an open platform where you can constantly upgrade/tinker. That's all I got for now, hope it helps.
