Good Morning Friends,

When you are having problems with any device be it laptop, phone, smart watch, etc.., and you call to speak with technical support what is the one thing they ask? “Have you restarted your device?” I pose the same question in our lives, both physical and spiritual. When you call on the Lord for technical support, I wonder would He ask, have you done a factory restart?

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. NASB.

What is your routine first thing in the morning? Do you wake up groaning and moaning, stumble to the bathroom, splash water on your face, empty your bladder, then stumble into the kitchen to make coffee, mindlessly repetition every day? I would imagine these hits close to home for a lot of us. Do you remember the old Scope mouthwash commercial where the couple would not kiss each other in the morning until they rinsed their mouth and refreshed themselves? Well, perhaps we should take Paul’s advice from Romans 12. Could you imagine if the first thing we did every day is go to the Lord in prayer, thanking Him and praising Him and asking for His guiding hand in your day. Basically, restarting your mind with a factory reset giving glory to God first thing in the morning, in essence rinsing your mouth with the Word of God thus refreshing before the day begins. WHAT?

Now, this does not have to be only a morning routine but can also be done throughout the day and especially at bedtime. Taking the time to reflect on the actions, thoughts, speech that you may have done through the day, were they worthy of Gods ears? Would you have thought, spoken, or acted that way if Jesus Himself were beside you? I’m guilty daily but trying. A factory reboot first thing in the morning and last thing at night can lead to the downloading of much needed updates, updates that are critical in your walk with the Lord. Much like Norton Antivirus can protect your computer from hackers, viruses, and identity theft, The Holy Spirt does the same thing to Satan. However, you must keep your system updated (prayer and study of the Word). Daily.

Father, I thank you for your Word and for the Holy Spirit whose guiding hands steer us in back onto the straight and narrow path and through the narrowest of gates, leading us back into your glory and grace. I ask today as every day to fill our hearts and minds with your Word daily as a renewing presence. May we be vessels to carry your Word to the world and may we be willing instruments for your use. Father, I ask humbly as your servant to bless my friends and family today who are hurting, sick or lost that they may come to know you and feel you in their lives and accept you as Savior and Lord. Renew our hearts and minds as only you can Lord, I ask in Jesus’ name. AMEN
