Roby found issues reported. I wanted to highlight here. I plan to make notes in my copy. Thanks for bringing this to everyone’s attention Roby.
Several issues have been identified in the Speer Reloading Manual #15:
Data Errors
• Page 843, 44 Magnum Handgun, 210 grain GDHP bullet: The load data is incorrectly identical to the 200gr bullet data on the preceding page.
• Page 870, 45 Colt, 250 grain DCHP bullet: The load data is incorrectly identical to the 250gr LSWC bullet on the following page.
• Page 842, 44 Magnum, 200 GDHP SB: The data is incorrect and matches the 44 Special 240 LSWC data from page 838.
Conflicting Information
• Contradictory statements about the 45 caliber 250 grain DCHP bullet:
• 45 Colt section states it’s designed for low pressures and velocities
• 45 Colt (Ruger & Contender Only) section says it’s for pests and small game only
• 454 Casull section claims it’s made for 454 Casull and suitable for deer-sized game
Omissions
• No load data for 6.5 PRC, despite being a new manual
Other Concerns
• Some users report that handgun loads appear hotter than in other manuals
• Cast bullet load data removed in #15, which was present in #14
Despite these issues, many still consider the Speer #15 manual to be a valuable resource for reloaders. Speer has published some corrected data on their website, though they have not issued a comprehensive errata for the manual.
