Good Morning Friends.

It has been some time since my last Breakfast with God writing. Sept 2, I had Carpel Tunnel surgery on my right hand which was not as successful as I had hoped and I have been riding along on the pity train, feeling sorry for myself and wishing I had not had it done. Finally the Conductor “God” threw my off the pity train as we crossed over the Jordan River…Last night during Bible Study at church this verse jumped off the page and hit me squarely in the heart, Romans 8;28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. NKJV, so here I am Lord your servant back in saddle.
In the days of Isreal’s wandering before entering “The Promised Land” Moses spoke to the people and gave them instructions. One of the most powerful of these instructions led to a practice that some took literally instead of figuratively, it was known as the Shema in Hebrew (She-MAH) which means “LISTEN” and within this was a command WE seem to have forgotten over the generations, 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NKJV.

You have heard the saying, “walk the walk, and talk the talk”, and many claim this mantra but in actuality are not placing the Lord first in ALL things. Above all we are not teaching our children and grandchildren who and what the Lord is and showing them He is preeminent in our lives. Our children and grandchildren NEED to see us leading a Godly life, praying daily, morning, noon, and night, continually giving Him praise in ALL aspects of our lives. Having the Bible in our hands more than our phones, reading His word more than the newspaper (like anyone reads a newspaper anymore), reading our Bible more than watching TV. Could you imagine the changes in your heart towards life situations if we practiced this “Shema”? Can you imagine the impact it could have on the lives of your family, coworkers, etc.?

Here is a thought, the Muslim community has a call to worship five times a day, before dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and night and it is blasted from the minaret of a mosque. Could you imagine if Christians were as devout (not from a legalistic standpoint) but from a devotional perspective? If we (Christians) had a call to prayer blasted from every church in America FIVE times a day? Just imagine! A wake-up call to Christians and a Goodnight message for our pillows. I remember fondly when living on Fort Knox or wherever I was stationed at night the haunting sound of Taps being broadcast and the feelings it produced every single night. The prayers said for those who gave their lives to protect and defend our Nation. Yet, no call of remembrance for The One who gave His life for Our Sins, Who died on the Cross, was buried and rose again for our sins.

Father; my prayer this morning is that we and I can and will love You Lord with all our heart and mind and the we will teach Your words to our children and grandchildren and also that we will take every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ (The Messiah) our Savior with everyone we come in contact with and through every means possible boldly and without reservation or hesitation. Lord we ask for your strength and guidance through the Holy Spirts direction to lead us to the One who we need to speak with. Lord let our walk and our talk be guided by Your Hand so that we may be a faithful witness to You. In Jesus most holy name, AMEN.
