Unfilled “crushed” top

How to fix it
1. Pre-crimp depth
This is the biggest issue.
You want the folds formed clean BEFORE final crimp.
Adjust the pre-crimp station down slightly until:
• Folds line up with original factory creases
• No random buckling
2. Final crimp depth
Lower the final crimp just a hair.
Goal:
• Flat top
• Slight factory-style dimple
• No hole in the middle
• No dishing
3. Stack height
Bad crimps usually mean wrong wad or shot weight.
If it caves in → too much room
If it bulges → too tall
Fix with:
• Correct wad
• Add/remove shot weight
• Use filler if needed (cork card, etc.)
4. Hull condition
Those look reused a few times.
Old hulls:
• Don’t fold clean
• Hold memory poorly
Use fresher hulls while learning.
