Good Morning Friends,
As I continue my deep dive into Revelation a question arose: If Jesus were to write a personal letter to your church what would He say? Would He commend or condemn your church? Which of the seven churches described in the Revelation given to the Apostle John on the island of Patmos. would your church relate to, or for that matter which of the churches that Paul wrote letters to? Now this is not a question to be taken flippantly or with a grain of salt, would Jesus be welcome in your church? How would your Pastor and church leadership act differently IF Jesus were going to attend service this Sunday…We all like to believe that Jesus is in attendance at every service, but do we really believe that He is? Do we even act like He is? If not then why not.
Now this message is not one of condemnation or finger pointing as I am unworthy in any aspect to do either but as an introspective piece calling for both an inward and outward look at worship and the discipline that comes in hand in hand with being called a church. We call the Church, not the building, but the people the true church, we are the body of Christ but are we truly the embodiment of His Holy Grace? Is your church lukewarm, is it skirting the world, is it bowing to political pressure or idol worship, is it smelling of corruption or death, is your church being persecuted for standing up for the Word of God? Just some thoughts to trigger questions within us all.
Jesus said that no man knows the date or the time, only the Father, but look around at the shape of our spiritual world we live in, read the Scriptures concerning what would the world would be involved in in the last days, 2 Timothy 3:4 In the last days some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrine of demons NASB. Look around you, the evidence is inculcating our church through weak kneed Pastors and weaker congregations. Blind sheep being led to the slaughter by apostasy.
Back to the original point, when you go to church this Sunday, morning, evening, or Wednesday evening you should expect that the Holy Spirit is going to be there, and you had better be expecting Him to find you willing to serve. If you are not finding Him there, why not? It is not too late for our churches to clean up their acts and place The Lord at the center of WORSHIP, ensuring He is felt and visible by all, just as if He were sitting on the front pew, or the last pew for the Back Row Baptist (a little joke there). Bring your Bible, bring your “A Game”, come expecting to hear His Word and to be a part of His Church, His Body and doing what He has commanded us to do. The first of the ten commandments is: To have NO other gods before Him. None. Make sure you are not placing anything above God, nothing, not family, work, possessions, NOTHING.
Father, I come to you humbled and troubled at the state of our churches across the country, many are being led astray to their destruction, Father I ask that they be given the strength to return to You and walk in accordance with your commands and covenants. Lord I ask also that when we walk and talk in the world our actions and voices be evident of The Holy Spirit in our lives. Father, there are some powerful preachers and leaders amongst us, empower and embolden them even more as they fight the good fight and stand on your Holy Word. Thank you, Lord, for blessings and calling of them to lead and stand in the gap with your strength. Thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for our sins for it is in His Most Holy Name I ask. AMEN

I try. I believe, I just have a hard time with organized religion.

Understandable, we cannot forsake the assembly of the Church. Read Hebrews chapter 10. Finding a Church to Worship and fellowship with Christ and others is a blessing waiting to happen. Satan is alive and thriving in certain churches, and organized religions, he is sowing seeds of doubt, division and fear among believers, stand on His Word and run Satan out of the church.
