Well, its another pretty day here in Las Cruces, NM and thankfully its not as cold and windy as it has been lately. I was expecting to find more temperate weather when I relocated from Alabama but that has not been the case at all. I am glad not to have all the snow that a lot of places got the last few days. That stuff is just miserable all around.
My new routine took a bit of a detour this morning. Had I taken my garbage to the dumpster instead of putting it on the porch last night, well, it wouldn't have been left to do this morning. The rest of the day will be filled with a bit if leftover house keeping that I left for today as well. I will be extremely busy next week when it comes time to get my RV ready to move down to El Paso and need to accomplish all I can in advance. More about that later in the week. I am also going to try to get a really focused practice session in at the dartboard today. I have been struggling a bit the last few days and have also had some interruptions. I will be really glad when I am settled back in a place and can have all my boards and gear arranged the way I like it. Practice will go much better without all the distractions of throwing in a bar or the VFW.
I reckon I had better get moving in the direction of progress. Daylight is burning away fast already.

My very good friend and mentor once told me, "Travis, You're just gonna have to lower your expectations." It was the dumbest thing I had ever heard. Then I tried it...

My plan of the day was going well. Until wife called and said we had frozen water pipes in house. that broke.
Quick trip home and fixed problem. now waiting for pipes to thaw. have 2" solid ice in washing machine. Clothes frozen to the drum. what a nightmare.

Re: THE PLAN OF THE DAY
last time I was in NM was in 1998, jumping out of the back of a rough-riding C-130, as a federal smoke jumper. Navigator got lost though. we jumped as as we were floating down, we saw NO SMOKE...anywhere. Navigator was 140 miles off at drop point. Needless to say, as we were floating down, we saw a "town" off in the distance...25 mile hike with 35 lb chainsaw and 30 lbs of gear, we made it to the ghost town. 3 days later we were sitting on a porch and a pair of F-15's buzzed the town about 100' off the deck. 3 hours later 4 helicopters arrived to pack us up and take back to IC...Navigator went back to school...
