Breakfast with God 20250731

Post by Roby.evans »

Good Morning Friends,

As I was praying and studying this morning a specific scripture jumped off the pages of my bible and smacked me right in the mouth. It is simply amazing how the Word of God can do that and to point out where I have been wrong in my words, my deeds, my prayer and thought life. The Apostle Paul points out specifically that our prayers are to be for ALL MEN, (not only men but women too), who are in authority. This is where I have been failing and guilty and I wonder if many in the church are in the same boat.

1 Timothy 2: 1-2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. NKJV.

I have been guilty of not lifting up or praying for, “Kings and all who are in authority” meaning Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Speakers of the House, Congressmen, Senators, Governors, etc., and this is sinful on my part. I should be praying FOR them instead of speaking against them, interceding on their behalf with the Lord. I do not know them personally or know their hearts as they are distant from me and I have no personal interaction with them. With that in mind, what if Christians, and churches as a whole began to lift up the elected leaders “Kings and all who are in authority” to God for His action in their lives? Just as Jesus Christ is our intercessional messenger to God on our behalf, could we not be the intercessional messenger on their behalf metaphorically speaking? Could you imagine what changes our country and our world could experience if we (as Christians) put the power of prayer into action? And this is not relegated to only our country, even though it is very important to me, but worldwide. Now I do lift up my local Pastor up daily for his protection from “The World”, but I fail to lift up the leadership of the SBC and other denominational leadership as well and Lord knows they need it too.

Back in 1952 the President signed a bill declaring a National Day of Prayer into law and in 1988 another President made it the first Thursday in May. However, I would like to take it a giant step further and declare EVERYDAY as a National Day of Prayer because I would love to see this in our communities and our country, 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. NKJV. Now this will not come without a fight, and Satan is going to use every resource at his sinister disposal to stop us, but we have Jesus on our side. Let us lay aside our political and denominational differences and join together as Christians not as male or female, black or white, as Republican as Democrats as Independents, etc., as Protestant, as Catholic, as Lutheran, as Mormon, or as Gnostic, etc., and join together daily, every single day lifting up or praying for, “Kings and all who are in authority”.

Father, forgive me for my sinful lack of prayer for those “Kings and all who are in authority” that need your divine Grace in their lives, may each and every one feel the Holy Spirit inside of them and their decisions be tempered with a conscience guided only by You and in favor of You and your holy ordinances. Lord, I ask You to guide their heart and minds on each and every level to shepherd our country back to you with your power and protection as their mantra. In Christ Most Holy Name. AMEN
In His Service,
