Have no dealing with the 41 Mag but i am a firm believer in my 44 MAG.

I believe in .44 special not as much recoil and still effective similar recoil to the 357 and similar ballistics to 44 mag obviously not exactly the same but close

Agreed, 44 Mag does pack a whallop for sure, but none other caliber gives you the authority to sneer and make Dirty Harry comments like the 44 MAG!!!

I think the answer really depends on several factors:

-wheel gun or semi?
-self defense or hunting?
-versatility
-ammo availability
-concealed carry?


For me it’s 44 MAG in a wheel gun, 45 ACP in semi. I prefer 1911 style commanders for concealed.

For self defense: carry 45 ACP, bedside 44 MAG

Versatility: 357 or 44 MAG. 44 MAG wins. Can’t shoot 44 spl too

Ammo availability. 45 ACP
