Good Morning Friends,

Today’s message comes from the Book of Acts. I was studying about a character that is often overlooked and even taught about less, a man named Joses but called Barnabas because he had the gift of encouragement and was so nicknamed such by the Apostles. How much of a blessing he must have been to them and those around him to be called “Encouragement”. Throughout the Book of Acts we find how Barnabas encouraged others through stewardship, extending friendships, building partnerships, developing leadership, and lastly rebuilding relationships.

Many times in our lives we state that we wish we were more like Christ in our daily walk which is a lucrative goal and can be an inspiration to others however, just imagine if we as a collective group would aspire to be more like Barnabas what we could achieve. In Acts 4:37 Barnabas saw a need and moved in to meet the need. In Acts 9 Barnabas was THE friend to Saul/Paul, he befriended a new believer. In Acts 11 he built partners at other churches in Antioch by encouraging them in the WORD. In Acts 15 he took a young John Mark under his tutelage and restored him to a right relationship with Paul.

As strange as it may seem, Barnabas never wrote any book in the New Testament but did encourage two who did, Paul and Mark, where would we be today without Barnabas. Is it not a blessing the way God uses folks to get His message across to others. Are you a Barnabas? You and I can be if we place Him above us. In 2 Corinthians 1 the bible calls God the God of all Comfort and Encouragement so when we say we want to be like Christ WE need to be like Barnabas in order to be like Christ.

Father, I ask that we as a nation and a people strive to be the Barnabas’ that you have called us to be. Healing not hurting, building each other up instead of tearing each other down, giving when and where we see the need and not denying that it is You who first gave to us and all we have rightfully belongs to You. Father, your Grace is sufficient for us, and we ask that we can and will recognize You in our lives and give You the praise and Glory for ALL. In Christ name, AMEN.
