I'm diagnosed with PTSD and I've been struggling lately trying to find myself. I've been looking into reloading as a hobby to compliment my recent Father's Day gift. The wife got me a Kimber 2k11 .45 acp. Such a beautiful weapon that deserves to be taken care of.

I'm not looking to mass produce anything. I'd just like to get lost in the grind of something that I can be proud of. I figured that I could create my own ammo to fill in for when I can't go to the range and of course use that ammo when I get to the range.

I have zero experience in reloading other than watching a few videos to learn about it. I am unfamiliar with brands, terminology, or equipment other than what may have been mentioned briefly in those videos. It just looks like something I can see myself doing and enjoying.

I'm not sure what would be recommended. I find myself to be a quick learner. I suppose I'd like something that is beginner friendly, but doesn't limit growth as I become more experienced.

For starters, which calibre did you want yo start with? .45acp? We normally start people out on a single stage press. Usually RCBS or Lyman. Can change out and see which one you like better. Powder drops are also Lyman or RCBS.
Scales are beam scales, Dillon, Lyman, Herters, Pacific etc.
Calipers are usually digital or dial. Powder and primers will be up to you. I have 45acp casings and some bullets to send you. Do you watch TV in easy chair and need something to keep hands busy, or will have dedicated reloading area?

You will find that reloading equipment is much like the Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge Truck debate. Some love Hornady (me), others RCBS and Lee or Lyman, etc. I personally prefer a single stage (one step at a time) setup as I am not doing mass production rounds and enjoy the process of each stage. Have fun and start slow by reading manuals and re-reading them and making notes. YouTube videos can be helpful if from a trusted source.
