Breakfast with God, 2024 09 08

Post by Roby.evans »

Good morning, Friends

What are we doing wrong as so-called Christians, and I imply this in a rhetorical manner as I am studying and praying in 2 Timothy 2 and 3 this morning?

The Apostle Paul implores us to be strong in the Grace that is in Jesus Christ. We are also to be diligent and to present ourselves to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of Truth. Avoiding worldly and empty chatter for it will lead to ungodliness. We are to flee from youthful lust and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. We are to refuse foolish and ignorant speculation knowing they only produce quarrels. We must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, be able to teach, and be patient when wronged with gentleness correcting those in opposition.
Today we are seeing a robust opposition to the viable authenticity of The Word of God as Paul “through the Holy Spirit” succinctly describes what is happening in our midst today. Paul tells us that in the last days difficult times will come. Men will become lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

Look around you friends, what are you seeing? Are you seeing the foretold truth as listed above? If so, what pray tell are we “you and I” going to do about it? I see many Christians are weak sheep afraid to stand and face the wolf for fear of being the wolfs next victim. We are ALL called to preach the Word, to be ready in and out of season. Speak the Truth according to Holy Scripture and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, and for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work”. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB. I ask, how many of us spend more time reading newspaper or watching television news station which we know is generally half-truth than we spend in the study of The Bible that we know is 100% truth?

Lord, I pray this morning that “we” will take Your strength and Your power into our collective hearts and use this that You alone have given freely to us and put that power to work for Your Glory and for Your Kingdom. We know we are weak in spirit and can be led astray by those who skirt the truth preaching and teaching for their desires and not for Your glory. Lord, I ask for the strength to combat the Evil One who so corrupts the minds and souls of our nation. Lord, I ask for the strength to stand and face the Goliath of today with a boldness and confidence with the knowledge of eternal salvation which is mine through the death, burial, and resurrection of Your Son and our Savior Jesus Christ. Father, I ask these in His Most Holy Name. AMEN.
In His Service,
Philippians 4:13
