Good Morning Friends,

Do you obey God? A poignant question this morning. Obedience, what does this word mean to you? The Greek word Pietharcheo means “to obey one in authority” and is tied specifically to salvation and the indwelling of The Holy Spirit. Are you in obedience to the Holy Spirit? If not, then you are in direct disobedience to the Holy Spirit because if you are not obeying then you are disobeying.

When we wonder why we don’t have the strength of faith we want or think we should have, is it because there is something in our lives where we are blatantly disobeying the Lord? As I was studying in Matthew 22 this morning, I ask, what did Jesus say was the greatest command of the law, “You shall love the Lord your God, with all your soul, with all your mind, and also to love your neighbor as yourself.” Love. It is not just a trivial word to be bantered about willy nilly on the meaningless as we do today, LOVE is a command from God Himself and for us to not show LOVE in the spirit of God is in direct disobedience to His Word. Agape’ Love unconditional, sacrificial, pure, spirit filled, a perfect love.

With that said, are you in direct disobedience to the Lord? Do you have hatred in your heart or indifference towards another? Do you treat some different than others? How did the Lord treat everyone, sinners, priest, beggars, Samaritans, outcast, adulterers, rich and poor? With LOVE. I have written many times on repentance and forgives and still struggle with both as I am imperfectly human and a flawed Christian at best. However, I am praying for Obedience to be paramount in my life, not in a legalist fashion as the Jewish Sadducees and Pharisees mandated in the Law but from an “Agape’ love for my Lord and if I can have Agape’ love for my Lord then it will permeate me and help me to carry His Word to the World one person at a time through “Pietharcheo” OBEY.

Father, I thank you for your Word this morning, I thank you for your Agape’ love for me, a habitual sinner who is underserving of your forgiveness but nonetheless you give and paid the price for me. Father, I ask for your strength of obedience to your word and the holy spirits indwelling control and correction to guide my heart and mind daily for your glory. Lord I also ask for your compassion and love be instilled into my friends and family, and may they too see your light and accept you into themselves through the Grace only you can provide. Father, I ask these things not lightly but humbly as your obedient servant in Jesus most holy name. AMEN.
