Breakfast with God 20251214

Post by Roby.evans »

Good morning friends,

In today's society name seem to not carry the weight or respect of former generations. It used to be that a family name if disrespected was the cause to throw down, a reason to stand up and fight or a moniker that you were proud to be associated with or by. Much like the Clans of Irish/Scottish background you WERE your family name. However sadly today many of us use and hear the name Jesus Christ every day and for all situations, and not all in a good and praiseworthy meaning. I ask do you really KNOW what the names or title Jesus and Christ mean?

Jesus; in Greek (lēsous) is equivalent to the Hebrew Yesua (Joshua) and was a quite common name in the OT, but Joseph was given specific instructions regarding naming and its meaning “The Lord shall save”.
Christ; in Greek (Christos) meaning “The Anointed One”, or in Hebrew “The Messiah”.
So, the name and title Christ Jesus or Jesus Christ either way carries with it a deeper meaning than most understand today. When we (as Christian’s) use this, the reverence should be inferred and His Deity respected. Not in a Legalistic manner, but in a Holy manner.

Just my two cents worth today.

Father, We thank you for your holy name and may we always hold your name in the highest of respect and loving honor possible from our sinful being. We thank you for sending your only Son to die on the cross for us, may we never take it lightly or use your name flippantly in our conversation. Father, thank you and I love you and ask in Jesus Christ Name. AMEN
In His Service,
Philippians 4:13
