Water: rain catchment.

Post by Edgewise »

This is a tank battery. Used cheap it free IBC tanks at the downspouts and plumed together so they fill at the same rate. The math is sq foot of roof X inches of rain X .62= rain caught. Its important that your overflow/outlet can shed your heaviest historical rainfall or that it is the same size as you total inlets.

Minimal fliteration since this only irrigation water. Don't buy this. It sucks. Just get some plastic flower pots and sandwich window screen between. I add a leaf filter to the down spout as well.

One electric pump sends this all up hill and under the solar array to be gravity fed down to gardens. We rarely have to supplement with the well. Our well is very alkaline so rainwater is much better for the garden.
